Sterling Road Safety was established during 2014 and specialises in undertaking transport safety investigations, road safety audits, and providing impartial expert witness advice. We are lean and cost-effective with unique experience and expertise in investigating incidents, identifying and assessing risk, and proposing proportionate and viable safety improvements.

Tim Sterling is a Senior Partner and the Principal Safety Consultant at Sterling Road Safety. He worked for eleven years for local highway authorities; leading an accident investigation and road safety audit team for eight years. He has also worked nineteen years in the private sector; including sixteen years in a senior technical role at the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory.

Since 1998, Tim has regularly provided impartial expert witness evidence. Notably, this included acting as an expert witness and producing a highways safety assessment which was used as evidence during the inquest into the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Tim continues to work as a road safety practitioner as well as being an expert witness.
